[3] 1842, Aug. 1, to Miss Sophia Foord, Fall River, Mass. Removed from Pierpont. Airs of Palestine, and other poems, 1840.--Sending copy of his poems. [4] 1843, Oct. 27, to Edgar H. Reed. With stampless cover on conjugate leaf.--Will arrive in Leominster in time for the meeting; will someone meet him at train station in Taunton. [5] 1851, Aug. 21 ? recognizes risk he runs in publishing this opinion; asks for some nursery trees of the Northern Spy apple. [6] 1851, Dec. 30, to H. M. Cornell. With conjugate blank leaf.--Intended to give poem to Cornell's association, but an editor pirated poem and published greater part of it; doubtful whether he can now send poem to Cornell. [7] 1853, April 29, to Robert Carter. With conjugate blank leaf.--Cannot write a song or speak at dinner for John Parker Hale; doubts whether he can attend. [8] 1857, Feb. 17, Williamsburgh, N.Y., to Charles D. Cleveland.--Concerning choice of his prose writings to go into a collection proposed by Cleveland. [9] ca.1858, to Charles D. Cleveland.--Acknowledging his letter of March 20th. Wishes correction made on p.408 if it still may be done.
